Hello Mentors & Pitch Wars Participants!
I may be late to the party, but I am here! My name is Marti Parham and I write YA that can fit into the genre of #Fantasy or #Urban Fantasy. If you are searching for me online I can be found on Twitter.
I heard about Pitch Wars after I started following Tomi Adeyemi’s blog and Twitter page sometime last year. Since then, I have been kinda-sorta obsessed with the community that Brenda Drake has created. If you don’t know about it already, you can read more about Pitch Wars here.
So, here’s a lil’ something about my entry.

*Why Did I Choose An MC Of Color? As an African-American woman, I wanted to create an #ownvoices story that gives teens, like many of the ones that I work with in Chicago, a young adult fiction story that they can see themselves in. YA books that show the true diversity that we live in can only help stretch the imagination of today’s youth, and I want to be a part of that movement.
*Why Should A Mentor Pick Me? I work very hard on the things that I commit to, and this project has been and continues to be, my most passionate commitment thus far. I am all about doing what it takes to make this manuscript the absolute best that it can be. SERIOUSLY. Constructive criticism from a mentor who sees the amazing possibilities of this story is exactly what I need and want. Teamwork makes the dream work, right? So please, if you’re looking for a team player PICK ME! PICK ME!
