Time is not my friend. I know this now. That’s why I have made a conscious decision to use it wisely.

“There are only two decisions. Either make progress or make excuses.”

I’m not sure who should get credit for saying this quote, but I like it. A lot.

At this point in my life, these two sentences have become my mantra. They are keeping me focused so that I can accomplish my goals – the big ones and the little ones. Those of you who know me well, and even some of you who I have just met via social media, know that I am a creative spirit. That usually means that one day I could be writing/editing and the next day I’m painting/drawing. Unfortunately, I have not figured out a system that allows me to find balance in all the things I love to do, which means that something usually suffers. The thing that has suffered the most is this blog.

I never wanted to be that person who started a blog and then abandoned it, but sadly I have. I’ll admit it. I’ve become one of “those people” now (hanging my head low). To those of you still kind enough to read my words, know that I didn’t stop blogging because I just didn’t want to do it anymore. I stopped because I had to make a hard decision to prioritize my goals if I was every going to achieve the sense of accomplishment I have been seeking. And as many of you know, some goals take a lot longer than others.

Please note that my briefly explained blog absence is a reason and not an excuse. One day soon this will all make sense. Until then, I will continue to use my little mantra here to keep pushing forward until I get to the other side, also known as completion, achievement, success or whatever you want to call it, that’s where I’m working to get to. I will also make more of an effort to drop more words here as I continue this creative process. I am learning as I go, so just hang in there with a sista.

Until next time…

Wait! Before you go, please share the personal mantra that helps keep you motivated to accomplish your goals.
