Artist/sculptor Elizabeth Catlett

Week 04.02.12 – One major headline in the news this week was the announcement that artist/sculptor Elizabeth Catlett (pictured above) had passed away at the age of 96. CBS news anchor Mike Wallace also passed away at age 93. Be sure to watch the 1959 video from a TV documentary he did called “The Hate that Hate Produced.” Read about her impressive life story under the “Creativity” section. Also in the news this week was the debut of the movie trailer for Sparkle, starring Whitney Houston and Jordan Sparks. The new film, based of the 1976 movie, is slated for release August 17.
